Chinese Studies
I learned a lot about the Chinese myths, tales and celebrations. For example The Seven Suns, The White Snake and The Black Snake. I really like to hear legends from other cultures chinese is one of my favorites. I have also learned a lot about the celebrations that China celebrates for example Chinese New Year and The Moon Festival. I think that writing characters are a bit difficult for me especially all the strokes and witch order to do them in but I think I got the hang of it so far. After I now how to speak Chinese I might come back here again when I grow up.

Art
I learned how to add colors to our great-ape-portrait to make tones, shades and wrinkles. It really is surprising what you can do with colors. I also know now to add more colors to make everything blend in. For example if you see my GAPE (great-ape-portrait) you could see the wrinkles and the details in the hair and the reflection in the eyes. When you look at the skin you could how many colors I added in. The challenge that I have is trying to finish my drawings in time because I have many things to add into my drawings. I soon want to impress my family with the drawings I make

Music
I learned different songs in music. For example Down The Well. I think that thing struggling up to is the time to read the notes. But I soon catch on to the song and memorize them but I still think I should at least have more time. I think that I want to at least want to play a very very famous song on an instrument before I leave.

P.E.
I learned how to cooperate with my teammates when we had to play cooperative games in P.E. For example rally races. We have to make sure to talk one at the time to avoid fights or arguments. I think that the thing I should work on is push ups and sit ups. I think that I might want to maybe go in a race or a fitness area to stay fit and healthy,

Counseling
I have learned how to avoid bullies in different methods. For example using the word "so" to avoid nasty comments.
I having a hard time trying to control my temper with my brother when I learned how to let my anger out in a gentle way. I think that this will help me when I'm being bullied with no one around.

Story of Learning

I think that I had really improved in the first sentence in my writing and it usually starts with a surprise a terrifying start to hook the reader in. I also did well on to solve problems in my head, addition was easy. The other thing was to recheck my work looking for errors in calculation. I kind of got the hang of it I could still work on it a little bit more. To write thoughtful and reflective reading responses was not that much of a challenge for me. I always try to think about what the character would fell when a conflict or choice that could their life's. A new goal for 6th grade would to try to do multiplication and division in my head.

I think did excellent in making the first sentence to hook the reader into the story. Like this sentence...
A high pitched scream echoed of the bedroom walls and when I went over to peer over the windows my eyes darkened.
Well that gave me great success, but when there is something I'm good at there also something I need to work on this time it is trying to solve multiplication and division in my head. Well I think I'm getting better by practicing at home. I always do this after I have extra time after my homework. Reading writing thoughtful and reflective reading responses was not hard at all. I really fell that I have been doing a great job on it so far.

1. What is one piece of important learning in reading or writing you have gained this week?

For writing it would be it is better to plan your essay first and gonna isn't a word. Instead of using the word gonna you should use going to. For reading I have learned that sometimes you have to read between the lines to find out something that the author did not add in. In a book called Sign Of The Beaver the author had done this.

2. Explain how this has helped you in your reading or writing.

it helped me for my reading read between the lines by learning this. It helps me stop and think m,ore about the book. Has helped me for my writing by helping me organize my writing and gives me more ideas for that topic.

3. Explain what the difference is between a common noun and a proper noun.

A proper noun is when you have a name for something like for example Sally walked home at night and a common noun is something that has not have a name for example The cat ran around the house.

Unit 4 Reflection

1. Tell why you think it is important to be able to divide numbers. For what kind of problems do you need to use division?

It is important too divide numbers because if you are having trouble on multiplication you can always have help with division too remember your time tables. You can also use division for helping you shop for milk or eggs or anything. You can also use it for finding half's of numbers and for fractions too.

2. Tell what part of this unit was the most difficult for you and why. Describe what you did to overcome any difficulties you had.

It was a little difficult too divide the bigger numbers put when Mr. Daw showed me a really good strategy called long division it really helped and I realized that I was the best at using long division.

Parables

The Parable Of The Sower
This story is about how Jesus told a large crowd about God's word. Jesus used things on earth as an example .

There was a farmer that was sowing his seeds when all of a sudden the seeds rolled away. Some of the seeds fell along the path and the crows ate it up just like a man that hears the word of god but does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.

The other seeds fell on rocky places that had not much soil, it grew quickly. But when the sun came up it scorched the plants just like the man who who hears the word of God and is filled with joy but to only to lose the excitement of doing this.

Other seeds fell among thorns and chocked the plants as the grew up just like the man who hears the word and then worries of his life and wealth.

But the seeds that fall on good soil and grows more than 100 or more crops is the man who hears the word of God and understands it.

Writing Reflection

1. What do I notice about myself as a writer as I read through my work?

I notice that I like to describe things. The things I really like to describe the way it looks and the movement. I usually find at least some sort of error in my writing as I go through it.

2. How have I changed as a writer so far?

Since I read other people's writing the use a different type of writing I can try different styles. Last year I didn't have much of a opportunity to look and share my writing with others. I really looking forward and approving this year. I'm really grateful that we have Google Docs. Google Docs makes it really easy to share with others and has made me be able to see other patterns of writing.

3. What are three things I do well as a writer?

Well I think I'm pretty good at describing and showing how others feel and try not to tell but show. I practiced my describing so that my personal narrative wouldn't turn out to be a report and it wouldn't hook the reader in. I also think that I'm good at writing the first sentence too try and hook the reader in and try to get the reader to want to read more. Also I think I'm good at making up characters and show the reader their problems, fears, hopes and their solution that ends the whole story.

4. What are some things I want to get stronger at as a writer?

I struggling to get a grip on to show not tell. Describing really did help a lot but I'm still not sure if I'm there yet. But I'm sure that I well be able to achieve that this year. Mr.Daw brought up to try and not use the word (I) all the time but that is going to be a challenge for me this year.

5. What is my favorite piece, and what are the things I love about it?

My favorite piece is a piece that I made this year and it is called The Life O f Stephanie Jones. I like it because I got to make my own character and got to decide their own life and their own future an their own problems.

Math learnig

DESCRIBE WHAT YOU LIKED ABOUT PLAYING THE GAME FACTOR CAPTOR.

I liked the way how we had to find different ways to find a number and experience new multiples of that number. I also like the challenge you had to face when there was an impossible number. It also helped me learn my factors.

EXPLAIN HOW MAKING AN ARRAY MIGHT HELP SOMEONE FIND FACTORS OF A NUMBER.

Well if someone doesn't know their multiples and their factors arrays help them keep organized but doesn't help with large numbers.

LOOK BACK THROUGH JOURNAL PAGES 2-28. WHAT ACTIVITY OR LESSON DID YOU ENJOY MOST IN THIS UNIT AND WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM IT?

On page 10 is Factor Pairs. That was my favorite thing in this unit. I learned about how organized and how nicely it fits in with multiplication. I learned about the rainbow too.
